Rebecca's Key Commitments

Investing in Today's

Ward 5. Ward 5 encompasses some neighborhoods that have seen lots of development and others that have seen very little. Rebecca is committed to delivering for Ward 5. This means making downtown work for residents while bringing investments to Central, including improved parks & rec centers, supporting community groups, and opening more small businesses.

Safety and Dignity for All Clevelanders. Every resident deserves the right to live, work, and play in safe neighborhoods. After being the only councilperson to do ride-alongs with Police, EMS, and co-responders, Rebecca helped to introduce Tanisha's Law to allow people in mental health crisis to get the help they need while freeing police to respond to other calls.

Fair Maps and Good Governance. Rebecca fought to bring public comment to City Hall and she stood with residents by taking the Fair Maps Pledge when almost no other councilmembers did. In her second term, she is continuing the fight for transparency and accountability at City Hall, calling on leaders to take map drawing out of the hands of politicians and foster resident engagement.

Basic City Services that Actually Work. In 2022, Rebecca released the first ever report on basic city services. Based on that report, she advocated for a new 311 system that launched in 2024. While some services have improved, the work is not yet done. Rebecca is committed to rebuilding trust and delivering quality services to residents.

Protecting our Children from Lead Poisoning. We will never get to the root of Cleveland's problems until we address our lead poisoning crisis. As co-chair of the Lead Safe Advisory Board, she knows that we haven't yet fulfilled our promise of making Cleveland's housing stock safe for our kids. Rebecca will work every day to make this promise a reality.

Creating Good Jobs that You Can Truly Live On. Rebecca believes that Clevelanders should be able to earn family-sustaining wages from working just one job. That is why she has been a champion for Cleveland's unions and supported efforts to get high paying jobs in manufacturing, at the airport, and for anybody who works on a city-subsidized project.
